GBTU Bamboo Rod Raffle to Benefit Casting for Recovery Programs

Drawing to be Held March 29th!

The hand-planed bamboo rod is a 7' 8" rod for #4 line. It is based on the Perfectionist and the Driggs River tapers by Paul Young. It has a medium-fast action. The reel seat insert is curly Koa. The rod has 2 tips.

The rod has a finish of high quality Urethane Spar Varnish. The reel seat insert has been finished with gloss tongue oil finish.

The rod was generously donated by Dan Duggan of River Stix for Casting for Recovery programs and the rod case was donated by Dan Lanier from REC Components.

GBTU is raffling off this rod and case with 50% of proceeds going to the Casting for Recovery national organization, and the rest going to support the GBTU annual Casting for Recovery event held on the Cocheco River in October.

Raffle tickets are being sold 1 for $5 and 10 for $30. Tickets will be sold at club meetings. You can also download and print tickets from the link below and then send the completed ticket stubs and payment check to:

Donations Sought for March 29th Fly Auction

Donations are being sought and accepted for the annual GBTU Fly Auction Fund Raiser being held at Weeksie's Pizza, Dover, NH. Donations need not be limited to flies or fishing gear. Services, art work, jewelry, gift cards, stationary, and event tickets have all been popular items in past years. Please contact any of our Board Members or reach us through our website email.

New Hampshire State TU Council Launches Website

The NH State TU Council just launched their own website at www.nhtrout.org. The website will serve to link the activities of the seven NH TU chapters and feature highlights of what is going on in the state in coldwater fisheries conservation and education. Add this one to your Favorites list!

Trout Bugs
Renowned author and educator, Thomas Ames, Jr., will present some of his work and knowledge on aquatic insects. Mr. Ames is the author of Hatch Guide for New England Streams and many other magazine articles on the subject. Mr. Ames will talk on "Matching the Hatch in the 21st Century."
