Amy's Treat's - Respites with Rina Program

Great Bay Trout Unlimited and Amy's Treat hosted the 2nd Annual Respites with Rina Program; first of two events Saturday, October 1st. Memories were made once again. The rain staved off making this a remarkable day with participants learning to cast with a fly rod, an entomology demonstration by Judy Tumosa of Fish and Game, and then onto the river with the guidance of their river helpers. Even though only 1 small bass was caught, the participants went home with smiles on their faces. The event was held on the beautiful Cocheco River. There were so many volunteer instructors that some of the volunteers that attended the event that had never fly fished before had the opportunity to be on the river as well. Lenore Rogers, Amy's Treat, and Wendy Nixon, Event Coordinator for Great Bay Trout Unlimited, co-coordinated the event to create such an enriching and exciting event for the participants who have a dream to get out on the river and fly fish. Lenore did an awesome job with organizing snacks and lunch by getting donations from local community providers. Amy's Treat is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing solutions to the day-to-day difficulties of living with cancer and offers unexpected "treats" to renew spirits ( http://www.amystreat.org). Great Bay Trout Unlimited is very proud to have the opportunity to be involved with such a fine group of people. The next event will be on October 15th.

We would like to thank the many supporters of this event who include: Measured Progress; New Hampshire Fish & Game; Black Sheep Design Company; Beth Rhode Campbell-Realtor; Better Homes & Gardens/Masiello Group-Durham; First Colebrook Bank; Mizuna; Durham Market Place; Shaheen Bros., Inc.; Weeksie's Pizza; Michael Decastro; Great Bay Limousine; Dole and Bailey; Midway Oil Company; Newfields Country Store, Great Bay Trout Unlimited.

I personally would like to thank all who volunteered your time helping with setup, cleanup, food preparation as well as river helpers. I look forward to our future events with Amy's Treat.
