Lamprey Cleanup

Saturday May 3th 10:00 am, at Wiswall Dam

Rain and 40 degree temperatures did not stop Volunteers from Great Bay Trout Unlimited and 20 brothers from Sigma Nu from coming together for the 6th annual Lamprey River Clean up on this Saturday May 3rd. For the last 6 years members of GBTU and others have met to clean up the debris and trash that has accumulated due to spring run off and flooding along the banks of the Durham section of the Lamprey River. Sean Smith of GBTU pointed out that this event helps to support the health of the river as well as it shows gratitude towards Carl and Judith Spang, the land owners who allow access through their property.

"Excellent day" said Rick Hutchins of Dover NH. "I was happy to see the kids form UNH there to help out. Because of them we were able to do Packers Falls as well, something we don't always get to do. Doing this stuff shows people that we care and hopefully they will do the same and not litter."

"The fraternity guys were like a wrecking crew, they got in and got the job done", commented Pat Ard of Raymond, NH.

Chad Meenan of Sigma Nu; felt it was great that he and the others were able to participate and looked forward to more partnerships with GBTU and the fraternity
in the future.

Following the clean up there was a barbeque. Food was provided by Wendy Nixon of GBTU and a generous donation from Hannaford‚s of Dover. Water and energy drinks were provided by Sigma Nu and Mike Lianza of Anheuser-Bush Co.
